Printables: St. Patrick's Day

I am kind of a holiday freak and have been trying to create a holiday wonderland for every holiday under the sun. However, I kind of burnt myself out with Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas being so close together. So, I was a little late decorating for Valentine's this year and I am thinking about skipping St. Patty's all together. We will see....

Anywho, regardless of my decorating laziness, here are a few printables for you to use and share for St. Patty's day, one for the family friendly and one for the college frat house, haha! Enjoy!

Printables: Valentine's Day!!

Hello there phantom readers!

I am so excited to be getting hits (thank you Pinterest, oh how I love you!) and if you like what you are reading PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE follow me!! I like to see who you are and your support helps me want to keep writing!!

On that note, I have been doing a little graphic design this morning and have a few cute Valentine's printables for you! The first one is just another "Keep Calm" sign, I freaking love them! I think I might make this one into a pillow for us! This is an 8x10 but you should be able to print it in another size and be ok. Let me know if you have trouble and I can resize it to whatever you would like.

Photobucket

And here is the second one! I have seen variations of this all over Etsy. I knew it was part of a song and just love the lyrics but was not familiar with the band (The Pixies) or the song at all so I finally decided to look it up on You Tube today. I have to say, I am not a fan. Very indie and lots of music and muted singing....not my thing. BUT I still love the lyrics so I made my own slightly different version of the printable. Here ya go! Again, this is an 8x10 and I did do it with a white border.

And now I would love to stay and keep writing but I have many Kitchen Nightmares to catch up on so I will bid you ado for the day! See you next year! HA!

DIY: Puffer Vest from Puffer Jacket

Hello world!

I hate the grocery store. I swear that I no joke went to the grocery store at least 25 days in the month of December. It was ridiculous. I am so over it. However, I have a confession to make. I love to check out other chicks....not that I think I have any male readers but if there are any of you, get your heads out of the gutter. I like to check other chicks out because I like to outfit shop other people's clothes. The other day I was at the *((*^&*^& grocery store and I saw like 4 chicks wearing cream colored puffer vests with leggings and/or skinny jeans. SUPER cute! I have never cared for puffer vests, have never wanted one. But I was seriously kicking myself for ignoring all the texts I have gotten from Old Navy about their sickeningly cheap frost free puffer vests. So the next morning I got up and booked it to Old Navy hoping for the best. No luck....not a single vest left except some black ones that looked like they had been sewn out of a Hefty bag. So I got on the trusty internet and looked all over. I knew exactly what I wanted....cream, with pockets and a removable hood with fur. I didn't know where I got such a specific idea in my head from but that was what I wanted. I found a few that were ok. J. Crew had some nice ones but no hood. Juicy had an amazing one but it was not cheap and had kind of a weird shirred waist. I was getting quite frustrated and was about to give up when Deuce (our 70 lb. boxer who thinks he is a lap dog) started whining to go out. So I reach in the closet to grab my jacket and shoes and notice poking out between all of the drab black coats in our coat closet a fluffy fur hood in the perfect shade of winter white. "OH MY GOSH" I think to myself "that is where I got that exact idea of what I wanted in my head." I pull the winter white hood out and uncover a hidden treasure, my cream colored down Gap puffer jacket I got the year I went to Steamboat music fest. I haven't worn it in years because it is so warm. But if it didn't have sleeves I might be able to wear it more often! Don't worry, I didn't make Deuce wait to go potty, no animals were harmed in the making of this post. I walked around aimlessly in the court yard waiting for him to pee planning my perfect puffer vest and all the great outfits I was going to make out of it.

So I got back upstairs and went to work. Here are the details.

Photobucket

Here is the jacket before, with the sleeves still attached. Isn't it cute? I need to have it dry cleaned though, it has a few little dingys on the front.

I got my seam ripper out and started working my way around the arm hole. Then I had to rip the seams out of the inner lining.

Photobucket

I was afraid the down would start leaking out of the exposed seam but luckily Gap did a nice little basting stitch. So I rolled the hem all around the arm hole and pinned it.

Photobucket

Then I just stictched around the arm holes with cream thread and VOILA! now I don't have to go buy anything new! Love repurposing things!! Here is the finished product. I am still in my PJs or I would have modeled it for you. Have a great day!

UGG Outfit Ideas

OK, well I started on this post last week but got busy with life and didn't finish it. So I just got on Polyvore and whipped out a bunch of stored up UGG outfits I have been saving in my ever so crowded brain. As I said in my last post, my hubby totally rocked it out for our anniversary and got me a pair of UGGs but me being....let's say "thrifty" (cheap if you wanna be completely honest) I felt bad making him buy the UGG care kit when we went to get the boots at Nordstrom because he had already spent over what our original budgets for each other had been. So I thought to myself "I will just be super careful and then go get the UGG cleaning kit once I get a few Goose Goose orders." Well, if you ever go buy UGGs just bust out the extra $20 for the cleaning kit because not 45 minutes after I got them a giant blob of hamburger grease plopped itself right down on my right toe. I don't know that the protector stuff would have completely kept it from soaking in but it couldn't have hurt to have treated them before that happened. Anywho, I went and bought the kit last week and then after reading, realized it was like a 3 day process to clean and treat my UGGs. I have basically not taken the damn things off since I got them so this created a large dillema in the world of Callie. However, God did me (and the rest of Texas) a favor and made it rain for going on 4 days which gave me plenty of time to clean and treat my UGGs and now they look shiny and new (or I guess sueded and clean is a better description) and are just waiting for the rain to stop so I can wear them again. So here are a few outfits I created on my Polyvore that include my fancy schmancy new UGGs!

UGGs and Faux Fur

I like this to wear if we were going somewhere where we would be outside in the cold for the majority of the time because if I take off the fur vest then the outfit is just kind of boring. So hopefully we will go walk around Fredericksburg and look at lights or something like that soon and I can be cozy and warm!

Cozy Casual Ugg Outfit

I love this to wear Christmas shopping. The layers let me add on and take off as necessary with the ridiculous Texas weather. As you probably know from my previous posts I don't have this bag yet but I have been oh so good this year and am hoping Hubby Clause noticed!

Cozy Christmas Shopping

This would be great to throw on in the morning as a simple outfit to go run errands or to drop baby Goat off at Mother's Day Out. I know I eventually won't feel like I have to get dressed every time I go drop him off but for now I would feel a little weird showing up in one step over PJs.  I also love this for Christmas shopping if I was going to an outdoor mall like the Domain where it will actually be cold while I am walking around. I could also sub leggings for the jeans for an even more comfy outfit.

Audrina Patridge Airport Outfit

Alrighty, time for a confession. I know she is dumb as a box of rocks but I have a giant girl crush on Audrina Patridge. I even tried to suffer through her terrible reality show a few times (eventually it just became too much.) She has such a rocking body and seems a lot nicer than any of the other bias that were on The Hills. So I loved the casual outfit she rocked at LAX and if I had somewhere to go where I wanted to look hip and casual I would try to sport this.

Casual Texas Fall Outfit

OK, time for a reader opinion shout out (although I am quite sure I am simply writing to space at this point, as I have only one follower). What is your opinion on UGGs and shorts? I know alot of people think it makes no sense but I think it makes perfect sense in Texas or California. Sometimes it is too hot to wear jeans but still slightly chilly. Therefore UGGs and shorts with a flowy cardigan you can add if you get chilly are a good idea. Apparently people feel quite passionately one way or the other. I think if you have skinny legs and can pull the look off it is a hot and cute casual look!

Fall Casual Happy Hour on a Patio

OK, here is my last look which I have already posted once before in a previous post. I got this dress a few months ago and although I love the dress, it has a chiffon layer over the knit layer so it is not as casual as I thought it was going to be. So I don't know that I would actually wear this outfit but if I were out for a baby shower or a date night and we met up with people after in a casual setting I might switch out a rockin' pair of heels for these just for comfort sake.

So there you have it. A few outfit ideas from me for my new UGGs. What do you think? Do you like UGGs or do you think they are heainous? You aren't going to hurt my feelings!!! Hope everyone is having a good Monday. I need to make dinner so I am out of here!!

Oops! And a t-shirt quilt!!

Yeah, so I missed two posts last week. Oops....

I am not going to beat myself up too bad about it though because I have been a busy girl! We house and dog sat for my sis in law last week for Thanksgiving and between making sure my family had everything they needed to live for 5 days at someone else's house and preparing for Thanksgiving at my Aunt & Uncle's (and not to mention filling A LOT of Goose Goose Couture orders as well) I didn't have much free time.

Photobucket
Us at my Aunt and Uncle's trying to get a decent pic!!

I also started on my sorority t-shirt quilt! I got the entire front done yesterday. I have never made any kind of quilt before so I have to admit I was quite nervous about it. So far it is going pretty well. I did the Too Cool method seen here. It was a lot more work than just doing the same size rectangles like many do but I will have this thing forever and knew if I took the easy way out it would irritate me so I am glad I did it the way I did. Here is a pic!

Photobucket
Jonesie has already claimed the quilt as his own so he wanted to be in the pic.

And I am a total sheet snob so I decided since the underside will be touching my skin I wanted to find a pretty patterned sheet to use rather than just getting that scratchy solid quilting fabric. So I originally really wanted leopard print and scoured Ross and Marshall's for a single flat sheet I could use. Well apparently people don't sell individual sheets much any more. I always remember when I was a kid going with my mom to the Wamsutta outlet store in New Braunfels and there being a vast array of individual sheets. I was so bummed! But, as quick as I got bummed I became unbummed and I dare to say even giddy when I dug in the back of a shelf at Ross to uncover a hidden treasure! AMY BUTLER MAKES SHEETS! Who knew??? If you are not familiar with Amy Butler don't look her up because you will soon be obsessed with her gorgeous (and slightly pricey and hard to find) fabric. I am obsessed with her print collections and could go absolutely crazy buying her fabric. So it took everything I had not to do a little white girl dance in the middle of the aisle. I got a full sheet set for $19.99. I am doing a large throw blanket so I will have a ton of sheet left so already have plans to make pillowcase dresses for a few of my fave little girls very soon! Here is the flat sheet!

Photobucket

I am also going to make thick bias tape out of the fabric to finish out the edges. It is going to be gorgeous and I will post more pics as I get it finished!

Anywho, we went to the Chuy's Children Helping Children Blue Santa parade last Saturday and had so much fun! It was rainy and cold but as soon as the parade started the sky cleared and we really enjoyed it! Here are a few pics. (Please excuse my lack of makeup!)

I am actually going to do another post in a bit of UGG outfit ideas because Mr. Goat hit it out of the park for our anniversary and got me these!

I pretty much have not taken them off so I did a few outfits on Polyvore and will post them later today. Have a great day!!

Thankful Tree

Hello all! We had a very hectic and busy (but great) week so I had a few potential blog posts I wanted to write but didn't make the time. However, I am sticking to my two a week so I am writing this quick one to tell about my fave craft decorating project I did for Thanksgiving! It's a......

Photobucket

THANKFUL TREE!!!

And I absolutely love it and love how it looks! Here is what I did!

I got the idea from Honey We're Home. She did a thankful tree and cut out circles to use.

I thought about doing that but with 2 1/2" scallop circles because I have a paper punch I could have used which would have been SO easy. BUT I seldom take the easy route and when I get an idea in my head nothing else will do. So one evening when Mr. Goat was out of town I sat in bed and watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and cut out leaves. Here are some pics and more detailed instructions.

I bought my paper at Michael's.

Photobucket

The only paper they had that I liked were 12 x 12 sheets so I trimmed the annoying edges off and then cut them down to 8 1/2" x 11" (a normal sheet of paper) because I wanted to be able to stick them in the printer.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then I found a leaf shape I liked and made a sheet of them in photoshop. Here is the JPG version you can use!

Photobucket

Then I stuck my paper in the printer so that the leaves would print on the white side of the scrapbook paper. You should have a little notifier on your printer that looks like the pic to show which side to face down if you want to print on a specific side.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used the borderless setting to make sure that none of the leaves got cut off.

Photobucket

Here's a pic of both sides of the sheets.

Photobucket

So then I trimmed the leaves out so they would be a little more manageable.

Photobucket

And then I cut them out!!

Photobucket

Aren't they so cute?!

Photobucket

Then I punched a hole in the top with a regular hole puncher.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then I used some jute rope that I bought at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 and cut about 6" to 7" pieces to tie through.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Then once I had a big bag of those hubby and I sat down and thought of things we were thankful for. It was a bit of a challenge but it was so fun and special! We have decided we are going to do it every year and when baby Goat gets older he will get to say things he is thankful for too!

Photobucket

Once I got done with the precious (and super drama) leaves I went and tromped around outside and found a bunch of tree branches. I just loved Aunt Ruthie's Sugar Pie Farmhouse's arrangement, shown below and knew I wanted to create something similar but make it into a thankful tree.

Source: google.com via Callie on Pinterest

I found my lit branches at TJ Maxx and they actually only had a set with this really ugly cherry blossom flowers on them but they were on clearance for $7, a deal I just couldn't pass up. So I pulled the flowers off and they looked just like what I had originally seen at Michael's. These are pretty common now, I see them at Ross, Marshall's, TJ Maxx, Target, etc. so you shouldn't have any trouble finding them. I also made sure I got some that plugged into the wall, not ones that took batteries because I wanted to be able to leave them on and using batteries would have gotten expensive! I bought my galvanized vase at JoAnn. It was $12.99 and I used a 50% off coupon so I got it for $6.50! I LOVE it! I plan to use it for lots of holidays!

Then I hung them all on the tree!

Photobucket

I tied a piece of jute rope around the vase and made a bow and voila!!

Photobucket

Don't you love it?!

Photobucket

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend! We are off to Pfluggerville to do mini-Thanksgiving with my in laws because they are going to be out of town for actual Thanksgiving. Happy Sunday!!
